The National Weather Service in Upton has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  Western Suffolk County in southeastern New York...

* Until 645 PM EDT.

* At 335 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing 
  heavy rain across the warned area. Between 0.75 and 1.5 inches of 
  rain have fallen, with rainfall rates of up to 1.5 inches in an 
  hour. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are possible in 
  the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin 
  shortly.

  HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

  SOURCE...Radar.

  IMPACT...Flash flooding of urban areas, highways, streets and
           underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low
           lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Stony Brook, Port Jefferson, Rocky Point, Mount Sinai, Setauket, 
  Nesconset, St. James, Miller Place, Lake Grove, Port Jefferson 
  Station and Sound Beach.
